Linden Secures $2.1 Million Grant for Sports Field

On Thursday, November 14, the City of Linden received a grant of $2.1 million to fund the construction of a new multi-purpose sports field at AL Kalla Park. The park is located at 2800 Wickersham Avenue.

Senate President Nicholas P. Scutari (D-22) presented a ceremonial oversized check during a gathering that included students from School No. 10, Mayor Derek Armstead, Council Members Barry Javick and Christine Hudak, Union County Commissioner Joe Bodek, Linden Public Schools Superintendent Atiya Perkins, and representatives from the Parks and Recreation Department, Pop Warner, and local coaches.

The new turfed field is designed to facilitate a variety of sports, including soccer, football, and lacrosse. The project aims to enhance recreational opportunities for the Linden community and its youth.
