**Union County Officials Celebrate Black Excellence at NJ Legislative Gala**
Union County leadership participated in a special event on the evening of February 28 at the Galloping Hill Golf Course. Several members of the Union County Board of Commissioners and other local officials attended the New Jersey Legislative Black Caucus Foundation: Journey of Black Excellence Gala.
The evening was hosted by Senator Angela McKnight, Chair of the NJ Legislative Black Caucus Foundation (NJLBCF), and Assemblywoman Shavonda Sumter, Chair of the NJ Legislative Black Caucus (NJLBC). The gala highlighted achievements in the Black community while honoring the legacy of Black excellence statewide.
Those in attendance included Union County Commissioner Chairwoman Lourdes Leon, Vice Chairman Joseph Bodek, Commissioners Michèle Delisfort, Sergio Granados, Kimberly Palmieri-Mouded, and Rebecca L. Williams. Joining them were Union County Surrogate Christopher Hudak, Assemblywoman Annette Quijano, and Assemblywoman Linda S. Carter.
The celebration coincided with the conclusion of Black History Month and provided an opportunity to recognize individuals and their contributions to New Jersey’s culture and communities. The evening was dedicated to culture and connection, celebrating achievements as well as the future of Black excellence in the state.
Honorees were recognized for their impactful contributions, marking the event as a memorable closing to Black History Month celebrations in Union County.
