Geneva Art Camp Teaches Mobile and Stabile Design
The Dove Blockin event in Geneva offers an art camp titled "Hanging Out Together: Designing/Making Mobiles and Stabiles" with instructor John Vaughn. The camp is scheduled for April 14 through 18 from 9 AM to 12 noon. Participants aged 8 to 17 will learn about mobiles—free-hanging artworks made from rods, pendants, everyday objects, and string or wire—and stabiles, which are balanced constructions that rest on horizontal surfaces.
The camp will feature images of works by artists including Alexander Calder, George Rickey, Jerome Kirk, Bruno Munari, and Miranda Watkins, among others, to help inspire participants as they create their own artworks. The program will accept 20 participants and requires registration, which opens on March 15.
The art camp is supported in part by The Wyckoff Family Foundation, The Linden Shop, and The Geneva Rotary Club.
