Columbus Opens Renovated Maloney Park After $1.87M Upgrade

The City of Columbus Recreation and Parks Department will host a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the grand reopening of Maloney Park on Monday, June 2, 2025 at 1 p.m. The renovated 25-acre park features a new playground, a looped walking trail, fitness stations, soccer fields, improved seating and direct access to the future Linden Green Line, a 7-mile linear park and trail.

The $1.87 million redesign has transformed the park into a gathering space that promotes wellness, play, and community connection. Community input played an important role in shaping the new features, ensuring the park serves as a hub for both formal and informal gatherings.

Mayor Andrew J. Ginther emphasized the importance of accessible public spaces, stating that parks are vital to the health, safety, and strength of neighborhoods. Bernita A. Reese, director of Columbus Recreation and Parks, also highlighted the community-driven approach behind the redesign.

The event will take place at Maloney Park in Columbus, Ohio, and media representatives are invited to attend.
