Shortsville Parade Honors Top Fire and Musical Acts
Citizens Hose Company in Shortsville reported the results of the 2025 parade. Winners were announced in several categories.
For the Best Appearing Fire Company 6-12, Walworth took first place, Farmington came in second, and Clifton Springs was awarded third place. In the Best Appearing Fire Company 13-20 category, Geneva was the winner. Geneva also had the most men in line, while Walworth was recognized for having the company that came from the longest distance.
Clifton Springs received the award for Best Appearing Fire/Ladder Truck. Geneva Rescue was named Best Appearing Rescue/Ambulance. The Special Judges Award for Best Clown Unit went to Shortsville Reindeer Farm.
In the musical categories, Sodus Home School won the award for Best Senior/Junior High Band and was also recognized as the Best Twirler Group. Savannah Cellar Savers was awarded Best Fireman’s Band, and Towpath was named Best Non-Fireman’s Band/Drum Corps.
Additional awards were given to First Baptist Church for Best Parade Float, Farmington for Best Fireman’s Color Guard, Shortsville American Legion for Best Military/Veterans Color Guard, and Andrew Barthoff’s 1991 American LaFrance for Best Antique Fire Truck (motorized).
The parade was well attended, and organizers thanked everyone who participated in the event.
