**Union County Hosts Domestic Violence Awareness Seminar**

ELIZABETH, NJ – Community leaders and advocates gathered at the Christian Fellowship Church in Elizabeth for the "Love is Not Abusive Domestic Violence Awareness Seminar." The event was held to raise awareness about domestic violence and provide information on recognizing abuse and supporting those affected.

Union County Commissioner Sergio Granados attended the seminar and spoke on the importance of events like this in spreading awareness and building community support. He also highlighted the crucial role of collaborative efforts among community partners in assisting individuals in crisis.

Lisa Poris from YWCA Union County presented on identifying signs of abuse and understanding its various forms. Her presentation also included guidance on how to help friends or family members experiencing domestic violence. Following her talk, a Q&A session was held with officers from the Elizabeth Police Department, offering the public an opportunity to ask questions and learn more.

For those in need of assistance, the Union County Family Justice Center provides resources, advocacy, safety planning, referrals, and shelter screenings. Support is available 24/7 through their Domestic Violence Hotline at 908-355-HELP (4357).
