Beat the Heat at Wood Library Cooling Center
Wood Library in Canandaigua is offering a cool space to beat the heat. Visitors can enjoy a book, read a magazine, use a computer, or work on a community puzzle while staying in an air-conditioned environment. Wood Library's hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 AM to 9 PM, Friday from 9 AM to 6 PM, Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday from 1 to 4 PM.
Authorities remind the public to take precautions during periods of extreme heat. They encourage people to stay hydrated and cool, limit outdoor activities, check on vulnerable neighbors, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. Ontario County residents in need of assistance with cooling costs can contact the Cooling Program through the Department of Social Services at 585-396-4060.
