**Union County Declares Code Blue Alert for Severe Weather December 12-14, 2024**

The Union County Board of County Commissioners has announced the activation of a Code Blue alert from December 12 through December 14, 2024, in response to predicted severe weather. The Code Blue alert ensures that individuals and families experiencing homelessness can access shelter to stay safe during extreme conditions.

Residents in need of shelter during this period must visit the Union County Division of Social Services during regular business hours—Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM—for screening and placement. The Division of Social Services is located at the following addresses:

- **342 Westminster Avenue, Elizabeth**

- **200 West Second Street, Plainfield**

For assistance after business hours, on weekends, or during holidays, individuals should contact the New Jersey Homeless Hotline by dialing 2-1-1 or 1 (877) 652-1148.

The Union County Board of County Commissioners encourages anyone who needs shelter or knows someone in need to take advantage of these services. The measure aims to protect vulnerable community members during potentially life-threatening weather conditions.

For more information or support, reach out to the Union County Division of Social Services or the NJ Homeless Hotline. Stay safe during the coming days.
